Outside my window: Rain and 53 degrees.
Pondering: Chronic pain and the long term effects on mental health. TN is NASTY! I am getting a little relief from warm compresses and an anticonvulsant medication.
Looking forward to: Family games night on Saturday. Sweet Pea, Fireman and Beep come over for dinner, then after, we play board games. Good old fashion fun!
What I need to remember: Where I put my glasses. Honestly, I lose them at least 6 or 7 times a day!
My current project: A new sock critter is in the works! The first one turned out okay, not great...but practice makes perfect. I'm enjoying making them, I had forgotten how relaxing hand sewing can be.
I am reading: (with Beep)"The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Plans for the rest of the week: Bake some muffins, haul out the Valentine decorations, bath and clip a very scruffy little dog, and get my hair "done"
Looking forward to: A Skype video chat tonight with my friend in Australia.
One of my favorite
things: My fuzzy fleece snowflake print robe and matching slippers.

Dinner Last Night: Lasagne, (another of Beep's favourites), garden salad, and toasted garlic bread. I am still only able to eat soft food, so I had to skip the salad and bread. Dessert, rainbow sherbet.
What made me
Grateful for: Warm compresses, anticonvulsant medication, and Hubbers. My guy takes very good care of me, and goes beyond, to make me as comfortable as possible.

I am so glad you are finding some relief wih your TN. As for the “I can’t find my glasses” thing, my solution has been the following: I keep the prescription-strength glasses (including older versions) fixed in a location where I most need them. For example, my newest prescription pairs stay by my computer and the sofa where I usually read, and I never take them elsewhere (except by mistake). Then I have dotted the house with cheaper nonprescription glasses purchased at the drug store. So I am rarely in a situation where there isn’t something I can use to help me read, at least temporarily. I have, as a result, about seven pairs of glasses spread throughout.
ReplyDeleteAs Judy mentioned, when I needed "readers," I bought many at the drug store and had some in every room! I even had some stashed in areas at my school.
ReplyDeleteGame night sounds like FUN!
Hope all traces of pain soon find their exit and you'll be feeling better!
Peace,
Muff
This weather is so weird....we are having to watch for tornadoes today in Georgia.....games are such good memories....hope the meds continue to help
ReplyDeleteHi Karen - Did you see the Mayo clinic article on TN? I only had it when I was first dx'd but I thought I'd lose my mind. It came in waves, for months, each wave of pain made my eyes water. There's some kind of "radio" surgery they can do if it doesn't settle down. It sounds like you're all inflamed - poor thing. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeletelooking forward to skype too :)
ReplyDeleteHi Judy and Muffie,
ReplyDeleteA bit embarrassing to admit, but I have 2 pair of prescription glasses and 5 pair of cheap readers. I lose them all. Hubbers is threatening to buy me one of those chain around your neck glasses holder.
Hi Kim,
The weather is so weird that it's scary.
Hi Karen,
The surgery has a low success rate when TN is caused by MS. I am getting some relief from meds.
Thanks for stopping by everyone.
I am so sorry you have pain like that. I hope you get relief. Thinking of you and praying too.
ReplyDeleteNothing scarier than unbearable pain, I think. Anyone who hasn't experienced extended, intractable pain can't even come close to comprehending the despair and misery. I do hope with all my heart that this will calm down, and soon. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteYou are a comrade in glasses. At the moment, I am missing both of my prescription readers (one pair that I just got) and several cheapo drug store models. I'm so frustrated! I get very sick of walking around in an amnesiac fog! I'm too embarrassed to go buy yet another replacement for my prescription ones. As you can guess, this isn't the first time...
Nothing beats playing games with the kids! I would look forward to that as well.
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of the cardinal. You take thee best pictures!
Not sure how I missed this post earlier! Hope the pain has gotten better...
ReplyDeleteWhat board games do you play? I have fond memories of playing games (and watching my parents -- Dad often shouting at some injustice, which sounds scary but wasn't -- play board games with friends).
